Colouring or filling an arrow

How do you give an arrow a colour of if it is big enough fill it with a colour.

I don't really understand what you are saying limey. That sentence does not really make sense, so I will give it a "best guess".
Using the custom shape tool, make sure you have "Fill Pixels" checked in the options. Then select the arrow shape you want to use. Go to the pallet and select the colour you want to have as the fill, then draw the arrow.
Is that what you mean?

I was using the line tool to create an arrow but couldn't figure out how to colour it.
I like your idea better though for creating an arrow, is there a way to draw it though in a different direction other than horizontal.
I can move it around if I create a layer and then use free transform but maybe there is an easier way.

don't know why you did it that way but. \:/ Make sure all your lines are closed then merge them. Use the wand and select inside the arrow, now 'fill' with color and discard the lines (or keep them?) you can add a stroke to them........??????????? It's really much easier to use a shape for your arrow, on it's own layer. If you don't want to 'free transform' the arrow,(not that that's difficult) you can rotate your canvas before you make your arrow then rotate it back.

That method is just SO easy that I doubt if there is an easier way. You have the arrow on its own layer to do with it what you wish.
