I actually spent more time than usual on this. From initial pencil sketch to final, about 10 hours. I seldom work on a piece for that long.
It was all done in PS7. Most of it, is the result of contour curve manipulations. Hope you like it

Brilliant!
We could do with a tutorial for this the sort of thing in the "pdf tutorial book" that's been suggested.

Sweet, I want one! Very cool concept, ron. :righton: I do see a couple shadows sticking out of the edges that need some cleaning up (as you said yourself) but thats about it. Nice work!

That is some amazing work. You never fail to impress me. Thanks for posting this.

Nicely done. Do I have a feeling it's not that done yet. I'd love to see whatever improvements you plan for it.

Yes, Al. It can be done. Apart from the usual masking, fills and airbrushing, it's a matter of layers and layer modes.

Alistair..all PS 7 my fav. version

dv8_fx. It still needs some work, true. But I doubt that I'll be doing it. It's just an exercize and I'm on to new things. I only post these images to show what can be done in PS and to encourage the younguns to perservere. :}

It's amazing how fast you can learn and what you can do with PS if you really want it bad enough. As I've learned with Photoshop. PS has nearly endless possibilities. Anything I put my mind to, I can do. And besides, it's a hell of a lot a fun. 8}

I did believe that it was done in photoshop it's more the fact that it looks like some Major time was put into that. I have to admit, I've spent sleepless nights on projects, but not specifically on making it a recognizable object.

Alistair]/b] you'll find alot more of ronmatt's remarkable work as you look around the board .. and he is so willing to help with advice and assistance .. :righton:

Glad to be of assistance. I have, literally, thousands of these images. I do, maybe, 1 a day. I'm obsessed by Photoshop and have taught myself some techniques that aren't being done by many people. But I think that's because they think it may be too difficult. I suppose if I were just starting out, I'd think the same. Actually, it's quite simple, if you had my tools. I have years worth of custom brushes and layer styles that I have produced for my style of work. I study 3d images constantly trying to gleen the subtlties and reproduce them in PS. I've been making a living as an artist/designer since I was 22, I'm 65 now. I started doing architectural renderings for my dad when I was 13. I seldom have to stop to figure out how to do things in PS. It's like riding a bike for me, I know the app like the back of my hand. I'm willing to share it all to anyone who appreciates my style and wants to learn. I'm retired and am no longer competing to make a living anymore, so if anyone can benefit from my experience, all they have to do is ask..just be prepared to 'think out of the box' 'cause that's where I work.
