Trying to get rid of a diagonal crosshatch watermark for from an image. Looked online and found a way by going over the lines with a stand out coloured brush, then colour select the brush strokes, hide the brush layer and select the image layer to have the hatch selected. i normally then go content aware fill and it completely gets ride of the watermark (yay).
For some reason now, when i choose content aware fill - either nothing changes or the selection (which is just about thicker in width than the watermark) goes to some random shade of the original image and isn't really aware of the content for the fill.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might be happening, as my workflow has not changed.
One thing that might be affecting it, is the presence of gaps in the image e.g. the tutorial was on a full image while I have most recently tried it on a wooden bench with slats - however, I have tried to mitigate the potential affect that the spaces between the image by not drawing the brush strokes over these gaps and instead creating breaks in the stroke.
Thanks for reading and hopefully someone can help me out
