Could someone identify and tell me what photo effect this is called?

On the (attached) picture it looks like a reflection done with a layer mask (possibly.) Could you tell me what that is called so I can find a tutorial how to achieve this.

I think you mean that each individual photo has a highlight streak running through it. There are several ways to do this. Here's a simple one.

Start with a regular photo:





On a new layer, paint white across a portion of the photo for your highlight:





Change the layer blend mode to Soft Light and adjust the layer opacity to your taste. I used 75% opacity.

This is accomplished using a layer mask on the white highlight layer, and then using the Gradient Tool to fade out the highlight.

Sure! With Ps, there are usually many ways to accomplish an effect. It's just a matter of determining which is easiest and works best for you.

For me, I would just use the Gradient Tool and a white "foreground to transparent" gradient contained within a selection made with the Pen Tool or the Polygonal Lasso Tool.
