Create a border for a photo frame

It’s a relatively simple task, I need to create a border for a photo frame, the original border was painted into the glass which broke, so my plan is to create one and print it out to hopefully create a look as close as possible to the original.

should I use photo shop, or a different app to create this, then perhaps use photo shop to match the colour.

or am I best scanning a large portion of the frame and using the clone brush maybe ?

i attach an image of the original frame for reference.

the inside is 8” x 6” the outside 10” x 8”

the frame is 60 years old has metal corners, which I will refit with new glass......

Use Photoshop. Create from scratch. This is a very simple task. Use Shape Tools. The hardest part will be the outer "leaf like" border which will need to be staged using the Pen Tool and working in half sections and mirroring via copy, free transform, and flip.

I would scan a flattened image to use as a template in Ps.

the inside is 8” x 6” the outside 10” x 8”
This sounds off to me.

The hardest part was the "leaf like" corners.

Using the original as a template.
Rotated straight, added guide lines.

Used the Pen Too to create half the "leafy" shape.

Filled the path, copied and flipped using free transform.

Once i had one corner made, I just copied it 3 more times and positioned it.
I added a solid rectangle and trimmed the corners. I then merged all the layers into one.
Added a stroke.

On the center section, along with a layer mask, I also used another technique where you have a shape (rectangle)...
(Note: This is just an example and not the frame I made above)

Add a stroke to it....

And then lower it's fill to 0, you are left with just he stroke.

If you need any details, don't hesitate to ask.
