Any tips for creating a line that diminishes towards the end of both ends?

It'll look something like 3px in middle and diminishes into 1px and fading into the background.

Thanks.

You could use a triangular shape.... or 3 1px lines that converge on the same point and then merge them.... or you could do it with a selection and then fill it....

Even 3px is not very wide, so you may not even notice much of a difference if this is going on a large pic. In any case you can transform the line to any size that suits your needs.

An easy way to "fade" lines into the background is by using the rectangle tool and drawing out a box on the ends of the lines - select "feather" from the "modify" list and click delete...

Gives a nice fading effect

Is there something I'm not getting here? It sounds very much like you need to use the Pen tool. Draw a straight line path with the pen. Go to your brush settings and change the size to 3 px. Go to the "Shape Dynamics" tab and set it to "Pen Pressue" in the drop down box. Change minimum diameter to 33%. Go back to your Pen, right click on the path you made, and select "Stroke Path." Have "Simulate Pen Pressure" checked and "Brush" selected.

Sorry if that's completely not what you wanted.
