CS4 cropping problem

This happened to me too! I was so mystified I nearly upgraded my Creative Suite at great expense to try and fix it. Luckily I came across the question and the excellent answer, which saved me a lot of cash. I have now joined this forum as the members are clearly a bunch of geniuses! Thank you so much.:)

Hi all! I had the same problem that started yesterday while I was trying to crop some HDR I was doing. I worked and worked on a solution and could not find one. After reading what others were doing I went back to my photograph on Photoshop CS4 and changed one thing. After typing 10 I placed a (.) period after the number and also after 8. That is all it took. I never had to do that before and it seemed to correct the problem. I tried the solution mentioned here but with removing a number altogether I could not crop to a specified size. Anyway, the problem is solved for now and I hope it stays solved. It was apparent that somehow the program was thinking that I wanted pixels of 10 and 8. Thus the super small print that looked like a dot on the computer screen. I hope this will help others that ran across what I mentioned.

I'm sorry guys. I forgot you also have to put "in" after the number. Without it you will still have a photograph disappear on you.

It could have been caused by the last setting you used which CS remembers and carried over to your new work.

Right clicking in the dimension field will display the units flyout and will indicate what unit measurement was or is currently in use (with check). Just select what unit you need for width and height.

All I can suggest is that you upgrade to CS5 or CC. They fixed a lot of simple things and made the whole program a lot smoother.

Changing the unit works but how do I keep it on there all the time? I don't want to have to change it all the time.
