duplicate styles in cs4

Hello. I was just wondering if there is an easy way to weed duplicate styles out of the style panel? I know there are duplicates in there, other than hovering over a name one by one to find the dupes. Doesn't help when some I've picked up have stupid names like "1a". My panel has probably 50 styles. I'd reset but am unsure if I still have the original files. On the same topic, can they be sorted?

Thanks

Mike

Go to your Preset Manager, choose Styles, highlight the one you want gone, hit delete.

Sorry forgot this one..

On the same topic, can they be sorted?

Yes, within the preset manager.

Drat! Beat me to it again!

What Sam said....and view the list of styles as either 'Small' or 'Large' list, you'll then get the name of the style as well as just a thumb....use the very small 'cog' icon just left of the buttons to choose either one.

Also, Sam, is sorting manual? Is it just drag 'n' drop or is there a way to actually sort alphabetically?

Regards.
MrTom.

Thanks. That's a good start, I found a few dupes right away but I have a long way to go unfortunately. Sure wish I could sort them automagically by name though.

Is there a 3rd party program somewhere that'll reorganize presets (styles, brushes etc)? Or an action/script?

I found a couple viewers in my google search but nothing that'll actually manipulate preset order. Then again I may be looking for the wrong thing... wouldn't be the first time :)

Short of automated functions, I'm not sure what your looking for but the preset manager is a great way to organize presets.

If you view presets and libraries as folders, then you could run a batch process to organize and rename the files. I have a mac and I often use automator to organize files within folders etc,.

Mac OS: Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS[Version]/Presets

That sounds good, I have CS4 windows so that won't help unfortunately. I'm just trying to tidy things up so mainly to find and weed out the dupes. As an example I see about 5 named "Style 1" spread out though the 50. I'd be happy if it'd even just sort by name because shuffling up and down is taking forever.

Sure it will, just use Photoshop's automate and batch! I assumed you were familiar with it, I just use Automator because I'm used to it.

Rename them, or move them, or group them. A mouseover will show it's name.
