Fixing hard shadow line..

How would you guys suggest softening up the shadow on this woman's face and making the shadow line not quite so harsh? I have Photoshop cs5.5 by the way. Thanks for the help.

Try using the dodge tool in midtones mode play around with %'s I think I would start at about 25% (try it)
actually start at about 20%

I started by making a decent selection on the shadow side of her face and making a curves adjustment layer to open/warm the shadow. made a couple more adjustment layers to take care of problem areas, carefully painting a layer mask to even out the tone a bit. Finished up with some cloning and mixer brushing.
lightened the shadow under her nose and warmed up the left side of his face.

spent about 15 mins.
