Flag effect

If I have a standard flag background with no effects, how do I get similar effects on top of the flag like the one below?

Find a 'dirty textile' texture on the net

open it


put your flag on top and make it fit.
Apply (in this case but you might want to experiment with other blend modes) hard light blend mode at 60 %

I did try initially that but I felt it made the flag lighter than it should be. In the example image it seems like theres been no colour loss

Then reverse the procedure, put the flag under the textile layer and apply a multiply blend mode at 60 % on the texture layer...
The colors of the flag will remain untouched, only the dark parts of the textile texture will be visible on top of that.

Thanks, I think its Averta. Did they do that effect on the font using drop shadow? I like it, better than just a plain font.

No, that would be a lot of work.
In my opinion it is an existing font, but again, there are so many...

But, if you can't find it this will work.

1.Make a selection of your type.
2.Save the Selection.
3.Stroke that selection on a new layer.
4. Move it where ever you want.
5. psd attached.

Click once on the foreground color icon........this will open the color selector. Sample the red color from the Type/Text.

Cmd/Cntrl + Click the type/text layers thumbnail to make a selection.

Go to SELECT . SAVE SELECTION > name it.

Create a new layer. Highlight the new layer.

Go to SELECT > LOAD SELECTION > choose the type/text selection.




Go to EDIT > STROKE


Set the stroke width to 4 px


Hit Cmd/Cntrl + D to deselect.



Place the newly minted stroke layer beneath the Type/Text layer.
Use your Move Tool with directional arrows on keyboard to move into position.
