Ghost

This one went thru.

I swear I'll never make it in the computer world. I screw up the even the simpilest things. I'll never be able to make my own web site. Anyway..I am trying to turn this woman into a ghost. The one on the right has been blurred -masked- liquified and she still doesn't look like an apparition. Any suggestions?
Also got inspired by VPs pic that had the smoke in it so I practiced with a little smoke -clouds. Alot of fun 3[ [excited]

Well... I'm new at this too, but, um...she looks like more of a neon sign than a ghost.
I would probably try, the extract, erase and blur and smudge tools and just work it until her form was misty and/or smokey like. She has too much color...ghosts are more white. Maybe that transparency adjustment thing also.
Actually, it doesn't seem like a ghost would really be that hard?
Hm
:\

HEY! I know what. How about try the 'neon' filter, then change the color mode to gray scale and tinker with the transparency and adjustment (bright/contrast) level. then leave the smoke?!

I tried some of the things I suggested. i just played with this image.
I didn't put a lot of time into it, just wanted to see if some of the suggestions would work.

Thanks tinker

Yours looks more what I want. I have'ent had time to fiddle with it but I like the neon glow idea. I think I might have to use the airbrush tool. I am trying to do this picture of old floosie ghosts haunting a modern gated community. The reason the ghost whores are haunting this place is that the housing development was built on top of where a large truck stop used to be. At least this is the idea. I'm trying to develope these fantasy scenes....why....... darned if I know. 8} I'll post the ghost when I get time to work on her. [excited]

looks pretty good Ferlin! I think the pose of the woman in your image does not lend itself to be 'ghostly' like, so that detracts from its realism....your smoke is on the right tack though... :righton:

Tinker: Thats nice! :}

The question is... what do ghosts look like? :\

Maybe this is what you're looking for (more variations possible).

Real Ghost

VP I think you're right. That pose is too rigid.
Josh I present to you an official published picture3 of a ghost. Now you know what a ghost looks like. [excited] [excited]

Now that we "officially" know what a ghost looks like, the one thing that I would do is add a layer mask to one of the image techniques above and do a gradient of transparency from the ground. That would give the effect that the ghost is becoming more solid as you move upward. Because as we now know from Ferlin's posting - ghosts are whispy and transparent at the foot - then become more solid as they move up. ;)

Making progress

Gettin in to it. Still love that smoke. Used plastic wrap - diffuse glow on the one on the right.
