Hi guys, new member here.
Basically I need someone's help.
I bought a product from somebody online and it hasn't been delivered and the sender is refusing to help try and claim for the lost parcel which leads me to think something fishy is going on.
He sent me this picture of a receipt for a sent parcel and what I want to know is if the picture has been edited In anyway where the post code and house number is? As he says he has now binned the receipt?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm not sure as the font does look slightly different.
Thanks
Henry

the lettering looks entirely different and really fake.

What you need to do is, get your hands on a real receipt, see if the letters are supposed to be like that.
if not, it's obviously fake

Ya the post code and house number are definitely not the same font or even size. If you take it into Photoshop and hit the equalize function, this becomes even more obvious. There are darker patches at the points of the letters and numbers were the rest of the receipt has none.
No way to prove definitively if it's a scam, but it sure looks dodgy.

Best,
Chris

that's why you have to get hold of a comparing receipt
the post office will most likely help you with this once you show them why you need it

if he has binned the receipt, his fault.
Perhaps you can go to a legal adviser

and have the mail check the session id?

Also forgot to mention that the area on and around the suspect area is suspiciously brighter and devoid of any paper grain.

Well, I'd say going to the mail, let the session id be checked and going to a legal advisor seems more usefull.
Or just see what happens when you confront him with this.

Well I'm going to wait till Friday to see if the parcel comes and if not ill be taking it up with Royal Mail and whoever I need to get my money back!
Thanks guys

Of course to be honest and play devils advocate here, you could be the scammer, running this by us to point out any obvious discrepancies and flim-flammery so as to better perpetrate your scam. :)

No of course not, you've given no reason to think your being disingenuous. I was just thinking hypothetically there. :)

Okay lol!
Just hoping to get lots of opinions together so that I can show the person this evidence when I confront him, so the more people that help me the better
Thanks

Also something else I forgot to mention
When he sent the picture it was in PDF format, it was sent from iPhone, iPhone pictures should be jpg images ? ImageUploadedByTapatalk1363528677.367544.jpg

Maybe you could post the original image he sent rather than a screen cap from your phone?

Would be easier to work with.

I agree. The post office ought to have a record of what address the session id refers to. This guy is an amateur! And we aren't going to help him or anyone like him get more professional either. And if they see this and laugh, you have a new clue! LOL.

also, surely if the seller is refusing to help, that's one up for dodgy right? sorry if it's been mentioned before, but the seller's intrest should be customer satisfaction, as well as income, so if they are refusing to help then it's just screaming out something's wrong, the seller shouldn't be so ready to prove something, if you haven't received your parcel, the seller should be making thorough checks, not arguing with you.

The numbers, to me look way too small to be printed with a receipt printer, and to be completely frank, and I may be VERY wrong, but it doesn't even look like a legitimate post office.ltd receipt

and i'm also surprised they don't use a photocopier. highly unprofessional.

just looking on the non technical side of life. my opinion is something's up.

on a more technical point, is there any chance you can post the original image he sent you? got a nippy little program that can check the image information for alterations.

I can say 100% that this receipt is fake. Receipt printers use 'thermal printing' to produce text and graphics on paper. Because of this process the color of the text is always uniform and usually has a distinct dotty texture. As you can see the parts you suspect to be edited have neither of these.
