Not sure what it's called. I made my sister in Law a Logo for her photo business. I figured a way to make the watermark clear but she doesn't like the extra steps It takes. I was wondering if anyone could tell me a (hopefully free way) to get this effect because I use free photo shop tools. Maybe even an app that does it? here are my examples and Logo I did in my way with the same end result looking for. Also Not necessary but I would also like to know if there's a way to change color of logo if I wanted too?

Basically a way to put the logo on as a watermark in one step. without white showing up in the background on the Original photo. Thanks for checking it out. I've seen it done before and the background is usually grey and white but is clear when placed on another photo. I just don't know how to achieve this effect in that way.

Thank you very much for any tips you may have.

Yeah It is simple. I actually like the way I figured out but was trying to make it the way I don't know how. seeing if anyone had any ideas without having to download or have paid Photoshop. Because my computer is poor quality but can still do some things just a hope. seen them used on humor sites to make funny photos same Idea without having to cut it out every time. I don't mind the extra steps just wondering about it. Gimp doesn't down load on my computer. thanks though, I'll tell her to try.

I like your logo very much. Here is a black and a white version of your logo which have both been "cut out" and placed onto a transparent background. The white one may be difficult to see, but it is between the black one and the white one on gray background.

Anyway, just open your photograph in gimp then copy either of the logos below onto a new layer above your photograph.

Thanks for your help :) exactly what I needed. so I guess it only works from a downloaded photo shop? I will pass on the tip very appreciative as she will be able to use what you made. thanks again!

Manda,

The easiest way for your to re-color your logo would be the following:

(1) Load one of the logos that I posted above with the transparent background into GIMP.

(2) [Alt]-click on the thumbnail image in the layers palette.

At this point, you should see the "marching ants" around each letter of your logo.

(3) Using the brush tool, paint your image however you wish. As long as the slection (marching ants) is active, you cannot paint outside the lines, so just go crazy with the brush.

(4) When you are finished, "Export" your image as a PNG file so that it will maintain the transparent background.

not at all. this will work exactly the same in GIMP. just load your photograph in GIMP, then load the logo with transparent background and paste it into a new layer above your photograph.

Really Awesome! I passed on this link to her so she too can know how to do it. My computer won't download gimp but I'm sure her's will and when I get a different computer I will try. thanks for all your time.
