You already have sites such as deviantart, cgsociety, polycount, graphicdesignforum....just to name a few. You have heavy, well funded, and very well established competition. I really don't think this is a prospect unless you have some new angle or system which would appeal to artists more than the systems of other forums.

I had a look at one of those sites in the past. They offer huge rewards and the contests are also very long [time-frame wise]. But they offer some really damn heavy vouchers and gift cards for rewards. In addition, they are not based on contests , there goal is increase the community and receive revenue from advertising and sponsors.

Im talking about hard cash rewards. Invest a little , have a fair chance to win a lot more. Money > vouchers

That would be 99designs.com then, and with them it's not a "reward" it's payment for your hard work.. no investment required, and no risk.

I'm sure you have good ideas, but in all fairness it's the internet. If you thought of it, a million others have too, trust me.
