How is this artist adding a 3rd dimension here?

They all look like what I would do if I couldn't take a decent picture, and I didn't have any Photoshop skills. I certainly wouldn't think, if I was an artist, that replicating somebody else's style and method to be an artistic direction. More an attempt to get similar images on my wall without having to pay the $1,000 for a 'Good' piece.

Either way, you surely cant' say that somebodies opinion is valid, then say it is poppycock, especially when they still tried to help. I couldn't possibly comment on context, but it seems rather twisted.

I can both appreciate his opinion and express disagreement at the same time.

As I said, perhaps my perception of his intended message was offbase and that is why I asked if I was misconstruing his comments.
