I like how this looks but I don't know how it's done. Can anyone explain how the highlights in the second image was made?

This is fairly simple but will require some work.

First open your image.....

Use a Curves Adjustment layer...........

Grab your Pen Tool and outline the area you wish highlight.......

Make a selection........

Use your Brush Tool set to white to add the highlights.....

Repeat the process for the rest. Pen Tool > Make selection.......

Brush Tool.......

Repeat the same process until your done!

It would probably be easier to use the gradient tool instead of a brush, wouldn't it?
