How to change size of text so all the lines align?

I always see this everywhere in typography in videos and everything and I really want to know how to do it for myself. I'm not talking about making the words centered I mean something more like this picture:

like how the word "there" is bigger than "any road" because any road is longer but the ends of the words match up? Thanks!

I kind of get what you mean, but what I'm looking for is say I have a paragraphed text

I AM A
EXPANDABLE
POLAR BEAR
IN A TWO TON DINGHY

And obviously those four lines are of a different length so if they are all the same font size I can't have them align their edges to form a square shape. I want the four lines to be each adjusted in size/font size accordingly so they will each have equal length as the other lines. (without adjusting of word/letter/line spacing, just size) I see this being done everywhere so I do imagine there is an easier way to do it.

It is just the size you adjust. Like Paul said, multiple layers.. for instance.

"I AM A" goes on 1 layer, & EXPANDABLE on another, then you resize the 2nd line to be the same width as the 1st. Repeat for any or all other words & lines.

Here's another example where the word "Polar" is smaller than the word "Bear". Again on it's own layer. Sized and positioned separately from the others..........



You could mix it up by changing fonts and colors.

How did you make the words align without distorting the shape of the letters? I know how SPWA did it, because free transform snaps automatically on both ends, but if I hold shift to maintain the correct proportion it only snaps on one end? That's why SPWA's example has different sizes for letters on the different lines. But you don't, how did you do that :O

Sorry, I did not see any new posts on this thread! I apologize for not answering you! Hopefully you will get this!

You can absolutely use the transform function to change the size of the text and align it!!!! Aligning the text is a MOVE function which can be done with the Type Tool or the Move Tool!! With the Type Tool selected, double click the text thumbnail in the Layers Panel to highlight the text, move your cursor away from the "in document" text and it will turn into a move tool!

However, I did not use the transform function to increase or decrease the text size, I prefer to use the Character Panel to make these changes.

I used layers exactly as SPWA describes!!! I explained that here....
