A couple weeks ago I made a video on YouTube telling people how they can buy a cheaper version of Photoshop rather than going down to the store and purchasing the usual $700 version.

One of the things that I want to emphasize about this is the fact that you should always get a price quote from 10 different places no matter what you are buying. Of course, I am speaking about business stuff and not buying lettuce or a pack of gum. However, if you are buying business equipment and software you should always check as many places as you can see what the best prices are.

Here are a couple of ideas for those of you that are interested in getting a cheaper version of Photoshop

  • go to Amazon.com and check to see if there are any deals going on. Sometimes people sell things on Amazon much cheaper than you would expect.
  • Look at as many auction sites as you can. There are all kinds of auction sites and even some that specialize in software. These are great places to look and I saw a copy of Photoshop for just under $400 on one of them. when Yahoo had its auction site, I bought a copy of Adobe PageMaker which was a $700 program at the store for $25. Believe it or not it was the full version with a manual and everything! No, it was not a bootleg copy but a old couple that somehow had acquired the software and just wanted to get rid of it. They did not know what they were selling!
  • By an earlier version of Photoshop and an upgrade it. Almost everybody knows about this but don't forget to try it if you have no other alternative.
  • you can buy a copy of Photoshop from an online education site. You can buy the educator's version for around $300. They will ask you if you are a teacher, tell them that you are homeschooling. (No, I am not telling you to lie but if you are teaching yourself a new skill that you are homeschooling!)
  • There are loads of software want ads on the Internet and you have to look aroundto see what is on there. Yes, it is labor-intensive but you will save all kinds of money if you hit pay dirt.
  • Buy a copy of Corel's paint shop Pro or paint shop photo Pro or whatever they are calling it these days.if you are strapped for money this is the way to go because it does many of the things that Photoshop can do but somehow cheaper. (I never really figured out how that works!
Two words of warning:

Don't ever buy bootleged stuff. You can get an awful lot of trouble even if you are just buying it and plead that you didn't know that it was bootleged. Not only are you putting yourself at some sort of legal risk but you are hurting the industry tremendously with this counterfeiting technique.

The other warning I wanted to give you was, try to avoid craigslist. I personally have had nothing but problems from that resource. Most of the people I have dealt with on their put up phony ads and then when you send them an e-mail to find something out about what they are selling they spam the tar out of you with everything they have. So, in my opinion I would avoid craigslist.

Here is the YouTube title for the video that I made about the subject, I hope it helps you out in your quest to get a cheaper copy of Photoshop::pimp:
