How to get this 'vintage' look

Hi guys,

First proper question here so hopefully ill be able to keep it clear!

I'm playing around with some images I've been given for a website I'm designing. Its for a shop, and the basic theme running through all of them is a worn, dirty, vintage type look. I'll attach an image below as a sample. My question is how would I go about adding this look to other images?? Is it a certain tool being used or a combination of tools?

Thanks guys,

John

I keep hearing about the benefits of photos of textured surfaces - this would seem to be an ideal application for them. I don't know much about photoshop but I do know that you can possibly pick up some texture photos here - sxc.hu/browse.phtml?f=search&txt=texture&w=1&x=34&y=6 - you'll have to be careful about usage rights because each photographer has their own requirements when you use their work - but there may be something free to use in amongst that search.

Hope that helps.

Margaret

Sorry, my post count isn't high enough to use a full url .... soon :)

Try googling Texture Rust it looks like that is a texture that may work for you post the texture on top of the picture then change the blending mode you can also lower the opacity and fill to achieve the desired look.

I think search for grunge textures would be better than rust search...........
