How to I fill this object?

I have this heart I need to fill in pink. Whenever I try to fill it in pink it gets a pink outline but the main white bit gets filled grey.

Please help as this is really annoying.

Any clue why when I click fill it just made it grey with a thin line round the edge?

first you should select the heart .. i used magic wand tool .. and after that just use the paint bucket tool and fill it
