How to make person in photo to look more realistic standing on ground?

Hi,

The idea is to put my son photo near the elephant. Everything is quite OK, but the place were foots touch the ground looks not realistic, seems that child is flying in air, not standing on ground like elephant does.

I played with shadows but still no success (shoe are quite dark, so shadows blend together...).

I believe something is what I don't know - something what makes this look realistic.

Could you advice please?

make 2 layers of your son "top layer NO shadow" bottom layer shadow erase bottom layer in sections you want no shadow, you will get the hang of it real quick
