Wanted to introduce myself just a bit. I have been into computers in some way for 20 plus years. Own a shop doing everything computers from repairs to website design (not as much graphic work) to full in house data recovery and data forensics. I have always done my graphics but I am not a pro. Doing my pamphlets, handouts, mailings, cards and so on. I have never used Photoshop much because of the time and learning curve involved. I am doing more websites now with a new deal I am offering in the shop and I have asked my people to not go grab stuff from the web so much to put on the sites we do because I prefer offering a more unique and tailored product to my customers. And after browsing work from our local competitors I have found they rarely use custom art and grab stuff from Google off the web. Even on business in town that runs ads stating "unique art makes for a unique experience" but I have yet to find much unique art in their site designs, or unique templates. I think I own the same template dvd's that they own although I never use them for paying customers.
So I took on the challenge to truly go unique and bought several copies of Photoshop (cs5 full when I found a good deal from a liquidate I deal with" and decided I was going to take it on finally. Thus I went looking for a forum to join up and learn. Youtube is the best thing online when you really want to pick up a good bit of knowledge on something you no little to nothing about. Couple youtube with a great forum and someone wanting to learn is set. So I found a couple of forums to browse and decided to join this based on the fact that people here really seem helpful.
So there is my story. I hope to do more reading here than posting but I have a feeling I will be doing a good share of the posting till I get a little further along. I don't think I am one to give much advice yet but when I get there I will be jumping in as much as work lets me do so. I believe in passing what you learn to the next person that come along. Kinda like a good book.
