Welcome aboard Eenya
I would draw it up in PS all of your shapes colours images etc until it looks good and how you want, then "view new guide" to show where you want to slice it up..... jump to IR and save etc

Hello Sfm.. I will give it a try. This is pretty new to me and I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew but I will give what you say a shot.
Eenya

it is a lot that you are asking which is why I didn't go into details and I didn't know how experienced you are with the programs........ so if you go step by step you will have the satisfaction of creating your own site...

step one open PS make a document around 770x500 for starters and come up with something you like the look of...... when you have done that you are ready for the next step........... which you can start a new thread in the photoshop for the web section
have fun :righton:

Thank you for your nice replys..Eenya [oops]

New Layer Based Slice

Hi Eenya, and welcome to the community.
Hope you enjoy your stay. [honesty]

Actually Sue, it's not REALLY necessary now to jump to IR, unless you need animation or image rollOvers. PS is fully capable of slicing up an image for the Web, and saving the files out in both graphic, AND html format. And that includes naming slices, etc.

Here's a function not mentioned much within PS, that can help make the slicing game easy to deal with. Look under the LAYER menu, halfway down... "New Layer Based Slice".

See my example image here to understand fully what purpose this function serves. [excited]
All you do is activate the layer, then run this command, and PRESTO! :B

ARGH!!!!!! MARK!!! YOU ARE DRIVING ME INSANE!!! [upset] [upset] [upset] Give me that darn windows theme!!!!! Hi Folks....

Thank you all for the nice welcome.. sfm I am about to do more work on it this weekend...I have the outline made but now I need to figure out the best way to slice it and put in the links...Happy Friday all...

Ok Here goes

This is as far as i have come...Now I am stuck with the slicing folks...I did try it but tables went all over the place when I did try to insert text. Please advise me...Here is a jpeg image of how it looks so far..

Thanks Eenya

I will draw some lines where I think the slices could go and post the image back here for you

if your text is causing the image to "blow apart" this means that you do not have what I call a "grow area" this area means that you can put what ever you like and it will extend or - grow

Let me show you what I have done since..

Hey hey...Thanks for reply...This is my first time to do this slicing thingy..I will upload changes now and you can see what you think for me please....

Eenya

here is a very quick idea of where you could put the slices in
I have also suggested which slices could be combined and where your grow area is....... the image slice to the left you would set as a background image
sfm

SFM

I am unsure about the grow area...I did slice the image but i then one at a time inserted them into a page...Time consuming I know..

Have a look now and see what you think please? Thank you for doing the image for me...How do I know if I have made the grow area or not sfm?

Eenya

oooooooooo so close he he he email me on sfm@petos.com.au and I will zip and send the file to you....... have a look at it particularly where you have the buttons.
yes you have the grow area correct but I think that I would have picked a plain blue with the black stripe so that you don't get that repeated look

:\ I am back!

Hello all. I think I am more sorted since we last spoke on here...Just thought to check in and let you all know I am still around and still slicing. I have just put up a site for myself if you would look and maybe give me some advice.
