Is there a simple way to reproduce the color in one layer with that in another?

I want to take the color from one layer and change the color in another layer to the color of the first layer. I can do it manually by double clicking on the color box in the first layer, and copying the color # into the second layer, but it seems like there must be an easier way to do this.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

That works if I am creating a new layer and want the color to be reproduced. I want to take the color of one existing layer and make another existing layer that color.

well it is hard to say without knowing exactly what you mean if the 2nd layer is a few objects with transparant rest of layer you can create a new layer fill it with colour and create a clipping mask.

or add a hue saturation adjustment layer create a clipping mask and adjust the sliders so it matches colours.

If it is just 1 object on a layer of many objects make a selection of the object you want to colourise and then do hue saturation.

Or upload your psd and then we can see exactly what your trying to achieve

For the sake of simplicity, let's say I have an image that is divided into four separate sections, each section is a separate layer and each has a different color (Like a 4-part grid). Layer 1 is filled with a color that I want layer 3 to have. I want layer 3 to have the exact color of layer 1.

Well in that case I would use the square marquee tool draw a box around layer 3 and fill it with the same colour as layer 1 after using the eye dropper tool or holding down the alt key with the paint bucket tool selected to sample the colour on layer 1.

Thanks for your help, but I'm still not getting it; I guess it will be faster for me to just change the # values for the layer that I wish to change...:banghead: :)
