Layer Sets

I am using Layers for skin smoothing and have grouped them into a Layer Set (Window 7 and PS CS). This all works fine - I go through all the processes, flatten the layers and save the image, no problem.

The problem is after this my Layer Set vanishes. I have searched through all the menus and there is no sign of it. Presumably there must be some way of saving the Set for future use ?

When you flatten an image all the layers are merged into one. If you want to save the layers, save the file as a psd before you flatten.

Thanks hawkeye,

I saved the psd image for future use, then flattened the tif file, so I could re work the psd file and save as a tif and flatten that if I chose.

It seems there is no way to save the layers for other images and I have to re create the layers for each image, so why bother making Layer Sets ?

It doesn't look as though there is a satisfactory answer to this question.

You lost me. If you save a psd with all the layers. why would you say you have to re-create them?

Yes, there is a satisfactory answer. Two, in fact.

First answer - save the original image with the adjustment layers in a group. Then flatten layers and "save as" another format (in this case a .tiff, but can be .jpg or whatever). CLOSE YOUR PSD FILE. When it asks if you want to save changes to the psd, say no. Then you can open that psd file and duplicate the adjustment group to another image.

Second answer - record an action which will apply all those adjustment layers to any photo you choose.
