Looking for help with the process of downloading

Hello,
I work at a school where we have purchased CS5.5 and I am downloading it onto Mac laptops. The process is extremely painstaking as the first download takes around an hour, and I discovered that if I line up more downloads, each one takes progressively longer. I need to download onto 40 laptops. Is there a way I can speed up this process? Will contacting Adobe and requesting a disc (I assume they won't give me 40) make a difference?

Lastly, is there any disadvantage to working with Photoshop once it's on the laptop?

Thanks!

Good luck with that. Adobe never, ever makes it easy to install any of its products, and CS is the worst. It takes forever and even with new disks it failed on me twice before I finally got installed. It's a huge program with tentacles everywhere.

How about using Photoshop on the Mac laptops? Will there be any problems, or once I have CS5.5 Extended on them, it will work with adequate speed?

You only need 1 disc to install, but you'll need serial numbers to activate it on each machine.

It really depends on the RAM and the graphics drivers. If there is enough RAM (I think it needs 2 GB) you can run Photoshop. If the graphics card is powerful enough, it will run 3D. If not, you're hosed.

I have not upgraded to CS5 because although I have enough RAM in my computer, my graphics card is not sufficient to run the 3D part. You might run into the same thing with the laptops.

How do I find the RAM? If I can't run 3d is that a problem? What is 3d? Also, one of my macs keeps getting hung up with various functions (nonCS3 related). How can I refresh it completely?

Can someone help me?
Also I was advised that if I save Photoshop to a usb I can download faster. Made sense, but when I tried it, though it had downloaded, I got error 6. I don't know what that means but I think the program may be protected from being copied to a usb so you can't make endless copies.
Anyone know?

Unfortunately I don't know the Mac operating system so I can't tell you how to find the RAM on one or how to correct the errors.

The 3D thing is only a problem if the students need it. Photoshop will still run but the 3D part will be grayed out.

As for the USB, I'm sure it would be a good idea but honestly I've never been able to even make an archival copy of my original Photoshop disks that I could use successfully to install it. Adobe charges big money for this product and unauthorized copying is a huge problem. They have a team of developers working night and day to prevent you from copying their installation disks.

One idea you might try is to download the program from the Adobe website and then enter the product code. I assume the school has an enterprise license (or whatever Adobe calls it) so entering it several times should be OK. That way you could download several at the same time?

All you need after you have downloaded the setup files the first time is to copy them to a flash drive or disc and move them to the next computer. Run the setup and put in a different liscense and you should be good to go. There is no need to redownload the files from adobe.

Anyone know how to download on Mac straight to usb? Not given the option.
If I download Mac version to a usb in my PC will that work?

When I download Photoshop, I get error 6 when trying to copy it from a usb to another computer. Can someone please help?

Firstly, to see your ram click the apple in the top left, then click about this mac. A window will pop up saying your ram, CPU and hardisk.
Nearly all MacBooks since 2008 have 2GB ram so I expect you'll be fine there.
As for error 6, I personally have no idea! I found this article: How To Fix 6. DsOvflowErr Error Code | Fix PC Errors
I know that it's called dsOvflowErr
Sorry I couldn't help more. But if you have any other questions about cs5 on mac I can help :)
