Hello everyone,

Photoshop CS5 on Windows 10

Oddly the "marching ants" in my marquee box selection have stopped/disappeared.
Placing a selection box gets me a white outline instead of marching ants.
Same result on every Photoshop file that I have open.
Anyone else experience this?
Have I accidentally toggled something?

Hello and welcome.

What tool are you using?

The Rectangle Tool and The Rectangular Marquis Tool are two different tools. You may be using the Rectangle Tool, which is set to shape, fill turned off, and stroke is enabled.

Hi IamSam,
Its definitely the marquee selection tool (dashed box just below the move arrow).
No marching ants... just a thin white box with no fill. It acts exactly like the marching ants box allowing be to modify the contents of the selection.
It seems that the ants animation is simply turned off.

Try resetting prefs. Press-and-hold Command-Option-Shift on a Mac or Ctrl-Alt-Shift on a PC, while you start Photoshop. As you start the program you will get a pop-up dialog asking you if you would like to delete the settings file. Click yes or OK.
