Nasty halo after filling

Great!!

OK, saving your original paths would be the best way to do this.......so in the future, close the paths and save them!

Use the pen tool to outline. Close the path and save.
Stroke the path



Later when your ready to fill..
Choose your Pen Tool, hold the command/control key, and click the line. This will select the path.
Then right click and choose "make selection".



Then fill the selection, easy peasy!

Notice that I left this one stroke out of my selection, it's not needed because the whole thing/strand is going to be black.

Lol, I actually fill that in with something lighter than dark so the black edges show inside for desired effect.

The selection is likely using some feathering. Set feather to 0 and turn off anti-aliasing for your selection tool.

Nah, that's not it; I tried that when I was playing around with the settings trying to fix the problem by myself at first but it still left the white halo. Anyway IamSam found a solution that works on page 2.
