Illustrator Need help designing vector logo for t-shirt

Hi all!

I am very new to illustrator and I seek a method of "replicating" the pattern of a design and use it for a t-shirt print.
How can this be done so it is created as a vector print? Do you draw upon the linings? Is there a smart method?

If you can direct my towards any tutorials doing this, I would also be very happy!

Also, I only seek the black linings on the design - so I can put colors into the spaces myself and play around with it.

I have attached the design I want to replicate and use for t-shirt print.

Could use image trace to get the linework you want and delete the bits you dont want.

Open the image > highlight image > Windows > image trace
