Need Help with Adobe Bridge keyword search

Alrighty then -- this looks like a great forum. I ran across it on a desperate web search for bridge help, and decided to join. So, hi! And I have a few questions about CS2 Bridge. First, is there any way to update JUST Bridge, without paying hundreds to get the CS3 or CS4 suite upgrade, which I don't need? I don't see it anywhere independently on the Apple Store site. If not, I'm running into several Bridge problems, which may be related. Here they are:

1. Whenever I click the icon to create a new category, name it, and then click the icon to create a new keyword, it scrolls to the bottom and creates a category called "Other Keywords," into which it puts my new keyword. Irritating when you want to use keywords as much as I do.

2. I did a keyword search by clicking in the pulldown menu for the Keywords menu. It was great! It found what I was looking for and I could search for multiple keywords. It was my first Bridge search ever. Sadly, it may be my last, since now, whenever I go into the pulldown menu, the "Find" option is grayed out. I tried deleting the cache. I tried restarting Bridge. No luck. Suggestions?

3. Many crashes! I've taken to closing and opening Bridge frequently so I don't lose the work I'm doing in the Keywords panel, which vanishes after the crash (the work, not the panel).

Verdict: Bridge seems very fragile! What to do? I really really want to update, because I suspect these problems are solved in later versions, but I don't have the cash or need to update the rest of my CS suite. Please, please help! I need good browser-style image management with thumbnails and flexible keyword capabilities. . . bridge OUGHT to fit the ticket. Thanks for reading!
