Hi everyone I'm new to the site. Guess after about 4 years of using PS It's become glaringly apparent to myself that I should know way more than I currently do.I run into to problems all the time and try to solve via googled sites with tutorials that always have bad instructions.
Case in point, I tried today to fade out a pics edge to the background color underneath.A colored background and a pic layered seperatly on top of it and I could not find a way to fade the pics edge to transparent.after 9 sites that I followed the instructions on I wanted to scream with every cell of my being.Which is what led me here.So hello and HELP!!!:o

Oh I have CS2 BTW

That would be like creating a vignette.....

Select image layer.....

Create a selection around the image leaving roughly the size of the border you want.....

MENU>SELECT>FEATHER..... the setting up to you on how much you want it ....

CNTRL+SHIFT+I to inverse the selction ....

hit delete........

If at first you don't succeed in achieving the look you want, undo everything , and repeat sthe steps above with different selection sizes and feather settings.

You can even try hit the delete button a few times .

hope this helps. Is this the effect you wanted? There are other ways....... depending how you want the look.

btw... I'm on PS7... I know... antique... got to update.....
