Hi there

First off, let me say that this site rocks. I've been trudging around the web for days now looking fo decent sites with lots of feedback and information - and now I have found one!

I'm not new to coding, can do ASP.Net (C# or VB), Sql Server, Java etc etc... but strangely enough have never used Photoshop - until now! (My god it's a little confusing!)

I would like to get into website development, as I can do all the nitty gritty backend stuff, but the pretty font end stuff has always eluded me.

Does any one know of some good articles relating to Web Design/Graphics for complete beginners.
I mean beginners, as I'm trying to create buttons at the moment!

Anything explaining Image Ready would be good as well.

Many thanks in advance for your time.

well, I guess I'll be the first to reply. There's dozens of sites on the web that have thousands of tutorials. But I get the impression that what you want is for someone to teach you Photoshop. I doubt that will happen. It has quite a learning curve. Then there's Illustrator, a companion app to PS.
There's Flash, Swish, Dreamweaver, GoLive etc. to learn as well for a well rounded web developer.
You made mention of the 'Pretty's' of PS. Meaning the interfaces and templates, the buttons and Bars and so on. You certainly can learn to copy these from tutorials. But Photoshop is a powerful tool. To learn to 'think Photoshop' will take a big investment of time and effort. No one can give you that.
If you want to be creative and innovative with it, it will help if you're a right brainer with a working relationship with your left brain. 'cause it takes both. If you don't have a developed design sense PS won't help. In that case I recommend you partner up with someone who does. I'm sure that many people on this forum will come to your aid with specific solutions to specific questions. I know I will. But I can't teach you Photoshop. Good luck and I'll be watching for your posts. RM

Your question is kind of like someone coming in off the street with no art experience, and asking how to paint the Mona Lisa. Uh..you got about five years? ;)

Actually, I'm excited for you. This point in time you get to learn all the fantastic things photoshop can do and all the awe-inspiring and downright crappy things artist have created using this program. You'll learn from both.

Try the tutorials here and at www.gurusnetwork.com for a start.

http://psworkshop.net/psworkshop/ has a good selection of tutorials plus a good overview of the basics.

http://www.eyesondesign.net/ has a huge interface tutorial but it may be beyond a beginner. Still take a look at it.

Try creating something then if you get stuck we can offer specific suggestions. Read my tag line.
