On Averge How Long Does It Take To Colour Correct an Image

Hello,

I am a newbie to photoshop and colour correction, working on it, on and off for about 5 months. I intend to colour correct paintings that have been scanned ( make reproductions of original paintings, aiming to closely resemble the original artwork). On average how long ( approx. how many hours) would it take to complete the colour correction, of such an image.

Each individual image would be different, depending on your ability to differentiate and discern color, how well you have calibrated your monitor, and what technique you ultimately choose to use, each image should only take you about 20 minutes or less.

Photoshop's native auto corrections are fairly accurate and would only take a few seconds.

Please consider that not everyone has the ability to properly and accurately color correct an image. You could place an image in this forum to be color corrected and if 5 members attempted the correction, you would have 5 different versions.
 
Thanks Sam, for the message. I think I’m one of those who ability’s to differentiate and discern, is really, really terriable, I took around 6 hours to get through colour correcting a painting, that I was trying to reproduce.

Every image is different, but you don't always need to rely on your ability to discern color. Sometimes there is a more technical way to get a "correct" color adjustment by relying on numbers. I've had good luck applying the techniques in this video, where you manually set the black and white points of an image using a Curves adjustment. Once the black and white points are correct, most of the other colors in the image are also corrected by the curves adjustment. After you've done a few, the techniques in this video take about 5 minutes.

You can also look for tutorials about how to correctly set the Gray-point of an image, which is a similar concept.
