Hi everyone,

I'm really sorry to clog up the forums but I am on my final chance. I have signed up to at least 20 forums today asking for help but I have resorted to coming back to here because you have saved my ass on so many Photoshop problems. This problem is to do with Illustrator but its with HUGE importance as it has to do with my FINAL EXAM at school. Video Below: ​

As you can see when I drag the appearance swatch to apply it to the text. The text disappears and only comes back when I change colour. Can anyone explain why this is?

This is for my final exam and I'm on my last legs. Please help!​
 
Your problem is that you've turned the motorcycle into a group and the group's properties are being applied to the letters. These properties are a drop shadow and no fill (notice opacity is greyed out). So when you apply the appearance to the letters, the letters have no fill and the drop shadow does not appear unless the letter is filled. The shadow will reappear once the letters have been filled with a color.
 
yep Jayseuss is Right I believe

and Mat I dont think resetting photoshop preference file will work in this case as it is not photoshop the OP is using It is Illustrator
 
I think I understand. I'm currently at work but when I get home I'm going to try it out. If you solved it for me then you are a legend and you can credit yourself for helping me get my final exam grade ever! WOO. Without partying early, I just want to thank everyone for the input.
