Problem cloning a part of a picture

Hi, I have a problem with the Patch Tool. As you can see in the image attached in this post I want to make this picture wider by cloning the wall and the floor to the left and to the right. So, I first change the canvas size of the picture (a jpeg file) making it wider, then I select the top left corner of the wall with Rectangular Marquee Tool, then I want to clone this selection to the white left side of the new created canvas with the Patch Tool but the problem is that I cannot deselect the "Use pattern" option in the bar and what I get is not a clone of my selection but the blurry pattern you can see in the image.
How to deselect the "use pattern" and simply clone my selection without any change?
Thank you

Doesn't control + D do the deselect for you? If not, just use your history palette to move back and if it's just one step, control + z. What I would rather than clone is use the marquee to select the area you want to clone and move-copy it. Then you can clone out sections you don't want. You can also use the marquee tool, make a copy of a section, move it over and transform it to make it wider. I don't use the patch tool, but that's just my methodology.

If this isn't addressing your problem, it's because I don't understand the issue.

Thank you very much! I followed your directions and I got it. You can see the result in the image i posted. I worked around the rims of the "tiles" resulting from copying and pasting different selections of wall and floor to merge them the best way and not notice them, using mixer brush tool and blur tool. It's not perfect but suitable to my needs

Thank you very much again for your help
