Problem when Editing Photos

I recently bought a new camera (Nikon D80) and I've been using photoshop to edit the photos. For some reason when I open a photo taken with my new camera there is a drop in color and exposure in the photo. So when make adjustments to the photo and then save it, it turns out over exposed and the color contrast is too high. I never had this problem with photos take on my old camera. I was wondering if anyone has any idea as to why this is happening and if there was a solution to this,

Thanks,
Curt C

Photoshop is converting colors on you. Use the Color Preferences to fix the problem.

1. Make sure photoshop and the camera are sung the same RGB Profile
OR
2. Make sure Photoshop PRESERVES EMBEDDED PROFILES therefore not converting.

Good luck,
