so I'm using cs4, with a wacom tablet. i make straight lines just by holding down shift and drawing.. unfortunately when i try to make one straight line right after another, they get connected by a faint diagonal (because when you click on 2 points consecutively, you get a diagonal). does anybody know how to make multiple straight lines without the diagonals interfering ^o_o^ ...

Where you want the line to end release your tablet pen, thrn start on the second line.

well the problem is that when I start on the 2nd line, a diagonal connects the end of the 1st line to the beginning of the 2nd line, even though i lift the pen
in fact you can't create a diagonal (or a 2nd line) WITHOUT lifting the pen..

Click with the brush on a spot, then shift click where you want the other end to be. Release the shift key, click with the brush in a different spot to begin the second line, now shift click to complete line 2.

First off, don't make lines by drawing them with the brush. Use vector shapes. Select the "Line Tool". Set your line weight and color at the top control panel and select the SHAPE LAYERS icon (the furthest square icon on the left with the points on all four corners). Click and drag to make a vector shape line. Click Opt-Cmd-T. Use arrow keys, while holding SHIFT to move the line the distance you want it to be (this will move AND duplicate your line). Click RETURN. Now simply click SHIFT-OPT-CMD-T repeatedly and watch your line duplicate itself across your page. Presto! Now just rasterize your shape layer if you want anti-aliased pixels rather than sharp-edged lines.

Ahhh! So sorry, totally misunderstood what you were trying to achieve. I see what you're trying to do. When you go to make the next line, you have to completely release the shift key. Click with your pen first, then hold down shift and paint downward. The light diagonal is being created because the shift is being held over to the next line. It also seems to happen when you click shift BEFORE starting your line. Hope this helps.

ah! thank you
it's a little awkward to do quickly but I'm sure I'll get used to it :)
