Properly cleaning up text in PNGs.

Good day to you gentlemen. :confused:
I'll do this quick.

I'm working on a translation project and I want to clean up (removing) the Japanese characters in this pictures.
Now, my methods are varied. Of course , I could always delete the letters crudely and then try to fix the image pixels by pixels. But that will take too much time and I won't be able to guarantee the picture will look the same.
So how do professionals work on the things like these ?

My appreciation in advance.
 
the job should actually be relatively quick and easy. Select the area that the text occupies and then go to Edit > Fill. And inside the dialog box that comes up, choose to fill using content aware.
Be sure to post back if there are any further issues. Hope this works out
 
I would be surprised if that works. Some of the other tools such as the patch tool, healing brush, clone etc are probably going to work better. You can try that, but be sure to make a new layer before you do.

Edit. Content aware fill will work to a point. If you select small sections at a time instead of making a selection large enough to take in all of characters. It will still require some work with one of the other tools I believe.

I actually did it. I think :frown:. My problem is that I broke the string that the original has, and history brush isn't usable.

One final question, same topic, kind of.

Is it possible to clear the Japanese characters out of this picture without screwing up too much of the image's quality, or I have to resort to using subtitles ?
 
probably better off just recreating the background by just downloading some new oil/ pastel like brushes,and painting on some similar strokes and then painting on that white border with a soft brush on a new layer
I'd say it would probably take too long to do with anything else
