Question about HDR with PhotoShop

I'm used to using PhotoMatix to do HDR but that was because I didn't have PhotoShop. Now I do and I'm learning all I can. I've played around with HDR in PhotoShop but I can't tell if it's working. I don't know if I'm just looking at the middle exposure or if it's actually combining the 3 images. Is there a way to view the information on each individual exposure after they've been combined like you can with PhotoMatix? If you know of a really good tutorial on YouTube I would appreciate knowing about it. Thank you!

Thanks Eggy, I appreciate that. I have watched some of those videos but not all of them. I'll check those out.
