Request for Help - Background Removal

Hi Everyone,

I am glad I found a Photoshop forum. I am new to photoshop obviously, and am having trouble. I am able to remove the background from my picture just fine, but cannot figure out how to save the image so that I can paste it into a new background later. When I save it as a PNG or PSD file, it gives it a white background that I cannot get rid of. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am using Adobe Photoshop 7.0. Thanks in advance.

I deduce you saved it via save for web? Make sure transparency is selected and Matte set at none.

First of all welcome cherrera. Certainly that should not be happening. Is this a new development?

Does anyone know if deleting the preference files might be helpful here?

In the meantime, while you are figuring out the problem, try this: open the new background you want to use. Go back to the document with the item you want to paste; select the layer; choose the move tool and just transfer it across to you new document.

If it is more than one layer, merge them or copy merge (ctl/cmd + alt/opt + E), then use the same process. This should work without creating a white BG.

Mysterious. Incidentally, it would have been best and may still be a good idea for you to start your own thread with your own question. If you do that members will see your issue and you might get a real answer to your problem. So go start a new thread, lol.
