[Request][help] How to do a grunge effect like that ?

Hi all,

I'm quite a beginner in Photoshop and there is an effect I'm looking for. Here is the effect I'm trying to achieve : http://us.fotolia.com/id/38239511

As you can see, it is a grunge texture background with some object and lights on the background (I'll have to put a heart and many other objects for my projects).

I gathered background grunge textures like these :

and tried to use this picture as a test :

But I can't get to play with Blending options to retrieve the effect in the first picture. Would you have any advice, tutorial links, or PSD files I could check to try that ?

maybe this PSD is helpful

the free texture is the background
then I used a gradient with mode linear light
then a hart made from 2 ellipses
and a top layer with free flame-brushes and 60 % opacity
