Separate Layer Style to it's Own New Layer

Hey Photoshop Gurus!

I need some help remembering how to do something I saw done once in a video tutorial.

How do you take a layer style like a Drop Shadow and make it into it's own layer so that you can transform it independently of the original layer to which the layer style was applied?

I thought it was in the layer styles window, but I can't seem to find it.

Add the Layer Style that you want to copy to the layer, then choose from the menu:

Layer --> Layer Style --> Create Layer

As shown here:

You will probably get this message but you can ignore it i you know the layer style will work:

I'm not sure what you're after but you can create a new blank layer and Alt drag (copy) the style to the new blank layer.

Very helpful for drop shadows when you want them to look like real shadows, after making them into their own layer you can transform them to get the angle right.

What's the advantage of converting the Blending options to it's own layer?
