Shadow


Adjust the three settings circled in this image. Primarily distance and size. Spread may not need adjusted.

Still not big enough? You must be working with a very large file. lol

Create a new layer (shadow layer) under the layer you want a shadow of (object layer). Hold down the Ctrl key and left click on the icon of the object layer in the layers pallete. That will make a selection. Hit d on your keyboard to reset your foreground and background colors. Make sure you are still working on the shadow layer. Now hit Alt+Backspace to fill your selection with black. You may want to hide the object layer temporarily so you can see what is going on. You have a solid black shape of your object now. All you need to do is go to Filters>Blur>Gausian Blur and play with the settings to get the look you want. And don't forget to move your shadow to make it match where your light source is coming from. If the shadow is too dark, adjust the layer transparency.


Basic way of doing it. Someone else may have a better way.
