I have tried Terragen for some time and it's really fun to use and renders great images but...I can't get the clouds right.

No matter what settings I use all of my clouds looks like they are low resolution. (I have no images to show you right now but I'll post later). It looks kinda like stripes.

I suppose I have missed something...anyone have a clue?

In Render Settings, turn up the "Clouds" setting for better renders. And make sure that the "Details" slider below the preview image in all the way to the right (Full).

Post a render though and lets have a looksee.

Here is an example. (The image is enlarged 2X from the original)

I have all settings set to maximum but still get these kid of results. :(

BTW, theKeeper - we have similar Avatars :)

What kind of version are you using? I use the registered v0.9.19 version for Windows. Do you happen to use the Mac version?

Also try to increase the Sky Size:

Make sure that you do this, because even how funny it may sound, the preview setting does have an influence on the final render. This should somehow be the result:

Hey yeah, our avatars are similar. haha :D

Your example image looks exactly as i thought. You need to increase the Detail slider below the preview image.

Increasing the sky size won't effect this.

Also... as Joe mentioned, make sure you're using the latest version because sky quality has been much improved since earlier versions.

And... i don't know how you did it, but increasing the size of the image to show it to us would effect the quality too. Not to the degree seen in the your clouds, but similar.

Thanks for the help. Much appreciated!

I DLed the latest version and it solved it all. The next version that they are working on seems pretty promising...

Terragenâ„¢ 2 is a powerful solution for rendering and animating realistic natural environments. Create entire worlds from your imagination, or import real world terrain datasets and use Terragen 2 to create the most realistic visualisations possible. You control the weather, landscape, rivers, hot air balloon gift voucherlakes and oceans, suns, moons and stars. With Terragen 2 you have complete control over the shader networks used for terrains, textures, micropolyon displacements, clouds and object distributions. You can reorganise the planetary shading pipeline to suit your goals. Place grass and trees wherever you want, Dish Network Dealsas well as other objects in OBJ format that you can model in third party software. It's easy to find great plants and objects modelled by other Terragen users or elsewhere on the web.
