Sooooo Frustrated! Please Help

Ok.. I did make it half the size but still had the same problem. There is another png already on my site and that is fine (transparent) If I saved it as a gif file then everything would be ok no?.. because I tried this and it wasn't... grrrrrrrr! thanks for your help btw... anything else you suggest?

Even in my documents on the laptop I can see the white lines around it..

You could try to use Magic Wand>Select background>Select Invers (so the picture you need well be selected)>Copy.

Now create a new PSD with the size that you want and wiht transparent background.
>Paste>Save for web&Devices&Save as GIF with transparency on.

Make two layers of the same image turn off the bottom layer then do your removal work save as PNG (top layer you worked on).

i dont know if this would help or not but you can try resetting your preferences.

there is nothing wrong with what your doing in PS you have a png with a transparant background the fault is with taking that image and putting it on your website whilst maintaining the png properties.

see a png minus the fact at te bottom of the laptop you missed a part in our removal of tat background.
