Taking a colour sample from another photo

Hi all,

This question has probably been asked a thousand times but I'm unable to find anything in the forums. So, apologies if it has.

How do I transfer a colour sample from one photo to another? For example, I have ten pairs of trousers, all different colours. I take a picture of a model wearing each of the ten colours. But want to choose just one picture, so that all the pictures are the exactly the same except for the colours. How do I tranfer the colour from one photo to another?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Welcome to PSGurus, simon.

Use the color picker tool. Click a color on the source image. This will be assigned as your foreground color.

In the new image, select the paintbrush tool set to color and color over the part of image you want (ie.. pants)

or with the lasso selection tools or via layer mask, make a selection , fill the selection with the picked color on a new layer, set the layer mode to color or play with the blend modes.

Well, this would be tough... You can't "transfer" color, you will have to manually adjust each color...

- Make a new adjustment layer, Hue/Saturation.
- Tick Colorize, and play with the settings until you get a similar color.
- Use layer mask to mask the Hue/Saturation everywhere except the trousers.
 
I was going to suggest using the selection tools and the Hue/Saturation adjustment layer but I was beat by NamanyayG. OMG, could it be that someone thinks like I do?
