Trouble with layer masks

Hi Guys & Gals. I'm Jimbo from the UK. I'm struggling a bit with layers in CS6. I wonder if any of you can help me with a problem I'm having with layer masks?

I create the layer mask, click on it but when I click on black or white the colour picker window comes up. so, I can't paint over the layer. Any help greatly appreciated.

Over the top of the color selector there is this icon. Click it and it switches your background and foreground to black or white. To reveal in the content of the mask, use white, to hide it use black.

You could hit that Thanks button in the lower left.

Ok, Alb I did think of that but I couldn't see where the button was. Another problem solved, lol!
