Trouble with web graphics

Hey folks, I'm having trouble with some web graphics and it's holding me back badly, I was just wandering if anyone could help!

This is the first time I've encountered this problem rather weirdly but here it is.

I've been working on this graphic for my site...it looks like this in photoshop (cs4):

Ex1.jpg I have added some 'noise filter' and a little drop shadow...I'm saving it as .png to preserve the transparency...

This is how it comes out on my website tho:

Ex2.jpgThe difference is shocking and totally not handy for efficient design. I googled the problem and found that it may have something to do with my colour settings which look like this:

Ex3.jpgBut no matter how I tweak them with 'preview on' it doesn't seem to make much difference at all. I was hoping one of the settings might magically make the photoshop view look like the image I get when I post it to my site but nothing seems to work. I'm a bit stuck and would appreciate any help! Thanks.

Interesting. I know your saving as a PNG, how are you saving? For web or just save (as)?

I'm just going 'save as'...I feel like a bit of a turkey as I never noticed that 'save for web...' below haha! I'll try it and see....

...and!

It works!

The weird thing is now it shows the original photoshop image in the save box as like my dodgy much darker 'web image' posted above, and the 'optimised preview' in the save window as the original intended image I see in photoshop (the first 'intended image' screenshot above. Strange.

However, it works perfectly for my needs! Thank you so much for that.

I hope there are other unobservant people like me out there that find this useful too :D

No problem! It was just a starting point to drilling down on the problem. I'm glad it worked!

Take care.
