Trying to creat a template

I'm trying to creat same template as this in the attachment, how did they created shapes and cuts on header ?

Use the Pen/Path tools Evil.

Then it's just a matter of 'drawing' out the shape(s) you want.
Plus... because you use Paths, the design is always easily editable.
