Un-combine shapes / paths

Hi all,

I struggled to get some shapes together by copying/pasting the paths and combining them. So for example I now have 3 circles which form a single vector shape.

Now I want to be able to colour each one of them individually. In the paths windows I have a single path with 3 circles and I just can't find a way to undo the combine operation and separate them.

I tried selecting one of them with ellipse tool w/ "substract from shape option" I didn't manage to isolate it properly.

Any ideas are welcome,
Thanks a lot

P.S. I'm on CS2

not sure what exactly you have

if the circles are already filled, and different colors, then quick select the circle, and hit path from selection in your paths window

if you only have a path, or they are all overlapping, and the same color then you will probably have to recreate each shape with the paths/vector shape tool

Hi,
thanks for the reply,
there is no quick select in CS2 and I didn't find a way to select just one of the 3 shapes (see screenshot).

I find that strange since its a vector shape, I combined it in one click do I really have to redraw the whole thing just to uncombine it ???

Thanks !
